The guess the number of parts in a chainsaw competition at the APF show attracted a massive number of entries. Why wouldn’t it. The free to enter competition had a fantastic prize of a Stihl 462c chainsaw very kindly donated by Thabo Franklin Dias, Global Lumbering Co-Operation.

We asked Stihl to provide us with a count of the parts that make up the machine and invited everyone to take guess at the number. All correct entries would go into a draw for the prize. According to Stihl, there were 496 parts but no-one guessed correctly. We did have two entries who were only 4 out, and the luck of the draw saw Mrs Joan Prenton-Jones from Wellsbourne, Warwickshire pick up the prize.

FCA England vice Chairman David Gillet called on a thrilled Joan at her home to present the chainsaw. Joan said “It may seem almost a waste an elderly lady winning this prize, but this grandmother has a grandson, Ben Chaloner, the owner of “All Tree Needs” based in Devon and he is now the delighted recipient of an amazing gift. It is all the more welcome as he had a Stihl 362c which was run over! He now has a perfect replacement and is looking forward to using it”.
